Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 21 March 2026

Note: This policy is in draft form and will be reviewed by legal counsel before public launch.

1. Purpose

This policy sets out what you may and may not do when using the Prooflayer platform. It exists to protect our users, our platform, and the integrity of the proof records we generate.

Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.

2. You must not register content that:

  • You do not have the right to register (e.g. content owned by a third party)
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of any person or organisation
  • Is illegal under the laws of England and Wales or the jurisdiction where you are based
  • Contains child sexual abuse material or any content that sexualises minors
  • Constitutes harassment, threats, or incitement to violence against any individual or group
  • Is designed to defraud or deceive other users or third parties
  • Contains malware, viruses, or any code designed to cause harm
  • Relates to weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, or other prohibited activities

3. You must not use the platform to:

  • Attempt to establish false priority over content you did not create
  • Manufacture fraudulent evidence for use in legal proceedings
  • Circumvent or manipulate the timestamp system
  • Scrape, harvest, or extract data from the platform by automated means without our consent
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the platform or its infrastructure
  • Impersonate another person or organisation
  • Use the platform in any way that brings Prooflayer into disrepute

4. Integrity of proof records

The value of Prooflayer depends on the integrity of its records. Registering content you did not create, backdating claims, or attempting to manipulate timestamps is a serious violation of this policy and may constitute fraud under English law.

We reserve the right to revoke certificates and flag records where we have reasonable grounds to believe the registration was made in bad faith.

5. Discovery and marketplace conduct

When using the discovery or marketplace features, you must not:

  • Misrepresent your identity, credentials, or the nature of your content
  • Make false claims about the commercial value or status of your ideas
  • Use the platform to solicit payments outside of the platform's billing system in a way that avoids legitimate fees
  • Harass, pressure, or intimidate other users

6. Reporting violations

If you believe another user is violating this policy, please report it to [email protected]. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action.

7. Consequences of violation

Depending on the severity of the violation, we may:

  • Issue a warning
  • Temporarily suspend your account
  • Permanently terminate your account without refund
  • Revoke certificates associated with violating content
  • Report the matter to relevant authorities where required by law
